Our Rendering Process
At Wild Rustic Harvest, we render our own tallow in small batches using slow, time-honored methods. By handling the process in-house from start to finish, we’re able to ensure purity, consistency, and quality in every batch.
1. Start with Locally Sourced Beef Suet
We begin with beef suet sourced from a local farm. This nutrient-rich fat, found around the kidneys, is carefully selected and prepared before rendering begins.

2. Grind and Prepare the Suet
The suet is ground into smaller pieces so it melts more evenly and renders cleanly. This helps release the pure fat more efficiently and supports a smooth, consistent final product.

3. Slow Render in Small Batches
The prepared fat is gently melted over low heat using a traditional slow-rendering method. This allows the pure tallow to gradually separate from the solids without overheating.

4. Strain and Purify
Once rendered, the liquid tallow is carefully strained to remove impurities and leave behind a cleaner, smoother fat.

5. Render Again for Purity
To ensure the cleanest possible tallow, we gently render and strain it multiple times. This extra care helps remove any remaining impurities and creates a beautifully refined finished product.

6. Cool and Store
As the tallow cools, it becomes smooth, creamy, and white. At this stage, it is ready to be stored and used as the base for many of our handcrafted skincare products.

Why We Render Our Own Tallow
Because we handle the rendering process ourselves, we can carefully control each batch from start to finish. That means better quality, greater purity, and a traditional product made with intention.
